Even though I have reviewed several other DVD download sites in the past, I have to admit that the concept is still pretty impressive. Who would have thought you would ever be able to download thousands of full DVD titles for less per month than one XXX movie might cost at your local video store? But here I am reviewing what must be at least the eighth site offering DVD downloads that I have seen, and I think that is a good sign of things to come for all you porn lovers out there. The competition is extremely intense in this category of adult sites and it really takes a lot to stand out from the crowd and even come close to touching the front-runner for the moment.

With so many titles in a vast array of categories, vixeo.com is certainly a force to be reckoned with...

Vixeo looks a lot like the other downloadable DVD sites that I have seen, with a long list of categories on the left side and some search and sort options below that. You can browse by studio or series title, and also by porn star name, but Vixeo offers two separate dropdown menus for male and female porn stars, which is something that I haven't seen elsewhere. I suspect that most members won't use it, but it does give Vixeo a slight edge for female porn fans who may want to find videos staring their favorite stud, or even for male fans who just enjoy a certain male star for one reason or another. There is an advanced search page that really gets into detail about the individual scenes and allows you to search by toys, sexual acts, settings, clothing, physical appearance and behind the scenes. The options here are so in-depth, I could write a review just on the advanced search feature alone, which is a very good thing.

The newest releases on the site are displayed on the first page, and it looks like they are coming in at a rate of two per day, which is very respectable, but again we're talking about a category that has sites with as many as five daily updates, which is pretty hard to beat. The DVDs are downloadable by scene and the newer ones have four different quality level WMV versions, and one each in MPEG and iPod/PSP formats. The WMV files go up to 2200 kbps on the newer videos, which is great for a full screen viewing experience. What the site is lacking is consistency, particularly for some of the older updates. There just aren't as many options offered for download and the quality tends to be lower on some. Hopefully they can retroactively raise the quality levels on some of the old additions to make the site a little more uniform, particularly since there isn't a way to tell which scenes offer which options until you are at the download page.

With so many titles in a vast array of categories, vixeo.com is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and I hope they stay on top of the game and keep improving their site. Vixeo.com is still a large site in an increasingly competitive category. It seems like the bar is constantly being raised for DVD download sites with the leaders in the category adding more and more advanced features and options every time I visit.

Vixeo itself seems to have remained mostly the same since my original review here back in April of 2007, although they do still add two full titles pretty much daily and have over 2570 available currently. They have the necessary search features covered and offer downloads in three to four quality levels in WMV format as well as single options for both MPG and iPod/PSP files. I'd like to see some additional features and options added, particularly streaming video, but if this collection appeals to you, it's definitely worth a look, no improvements needed!
