It's easy to forget in this time of high tech gadgets and streaming porn videos that hardcore pornography and erotica is far from a new concept. I'm pretty sure the first cave man who started drawing on his cave walls eventually made his way to scratching out some naughty pictures, and the unstoppable force that is human sexuality has kept the ball rolling nicely ever since. While you won't see any cave man action at vintagetaboo.com, they do have photos, drawings and even videos dating back to pre 1900 proving that even your great grand parents were living in a world of porn.
Most of the photo materials at Vintage Taboo are arranged into sections according to time period and then further broken down into sub-categories while the videos are arranged by time period only. Some of the pictures are arranged by categories like French Postcards and Burlesque. The pictures that are arranged by time period and subcategory include things like blowjobs, hardcore, pantyhose, derriere, boobs, spanking, catfights and even fetish. Apparently, not only were your grandparents fucking on film, but they were quite kinky too! You'll see bondage and other BDSM practices and even peeing. While the vast majority of these people's names are probably lost to the ages, there were some very well known stars like Bettie Page, Candy Barr and Roberta Pedon.
With the way things are broken down, it can be hard to get a handle on just how much picture content there is here, but my rough estimate is around 450 sets. There are over 100 videos as well. Nothing is dated and I don't think the site has an update schedule per se. Vintage porn is unlike any other genre of porn in that you can't just film more or buy more when you need to update. I would assume it's difficult to get hold of this type of content.
It doesn't really make sense to comment about the quality of the materials in the usual way. Obviously, most of these pictures are black and white and some of them have sustained some damage over the years, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of things. I do have one major complaint however. The way the picture sets are displayed here is hands down the worst interface I have ever seen on a site. Instead of getting a page of thumbnail images that you can click on, the only way to move through a set is by clicking the "next" and "previous" buttons. It turned a really cool, interesting site into an annoying chore very quickly. The videos are offered in MOV format, and like the photos, there's no standard of quality here, it's just all over the map.
Overall, vintagetaboo.com is a great collection of mostly picture content that is unfortunately presented in a rather user-unfriendly way. It's worth a look for vintage porn fans as-is, but this site will certainly need to make some changes to be a must see in my book. Membership is around $9 for a seven day trial. |
