It's getting to the point where I'm wondering if you're even allowed to open a new porn site these days unless it's a DVD download site. It's not that there's anything wrong with them - to the contrary, they're almost always great bargains and fun to use - but with so many around and more coming all the time, it can be difficult to narrow down your selection and find out which offers the best bang for your buck, particularly since they are often so similar in the way they work. Videochicks.com is another entry in the DVD download category, despite the rather non-DVD sounding name, so let's see what they have to offer and how they stack up here.
Getting around the site is fairly straight forward.
Video Chicks offers 27 categories of DVD titles, but many, such as BBW, gangbangs, pregnant and midgets, only have one or two titles. I also noticed that some titles appear in more than one category, and since there's no way to view a list of all DVDs in all categories, it's hard to say exactly how many titles are found here, but my rough estimate is around 120, which is far, far less than any other DVD download site I've seen. I couldn't find dates here, even in the recent updates section, so I have no idea how often or even if updates are being made here for sure.
Getting around the site is fairly straight forward. You can browse by category or search by key word, which is pretty much enough for a collection of this size. The scene descriptions which are displayed for each title provide little to no insight into the action, however. Consider these scene descriptions for a BDSM title. "1. plays with him 2. paddles her 3. Gen put back in the cage" Another just has the phrase "boy cums in her mouth" over and over for all the scenes. If they were going to completely half-ass this, they should have just skipped it, in my opinion.
Each title is split into scenes for viewing, and you can choose to either download or stream them directly from the site. Both are done in WMV format and there are no quality options here at all and the flicks display at a native size of just 320x240 with a bitrate of around 700 kbps. Some of them look OK enlarged to full screen, but others don't come close. It depends largely on the quality of the original recording, it seems.

There are over 30 bonus sites included with membership to videochicks, and they cover a wide range of categories. Compared to most sites, I would say that Video Chicks is somewhat above average, but when compared to other DVD download sites which often offer up to 3000 titles and five daily updates, it just can't come close to hold its own. As far as I can tell, updates are not occurring here at videochicks.com. The site still offers approximately the same number of titles as before plus the bonus network of over 60 sites.
This is by far the smallest DVD download site I have reviewed so far, and without updates, I think it makes the situation that much worse. If the bonus package appeals to you then this small DVD site could be worth a peak but just be aware that the short term trial offer does not offer full site access and will recur at a high rate so if you want to see what they have to offer, a full join is really the only way to do it. |
