The conservative powers that be would have you believe that pornography is a creation of the heretical and immoral climate of the current times, but don't let those fat stuffy old men fool you. Back when they were young, in whatever miserable little town they grew up in, and for centuries prior, people have been making pornography, and the proof is at retropornarchive.com, home of vintage porn from all decades. They don't just date back to the early seventies with the funny hair and music, I can identify, based on hairstyles and clothing, that it dates back to at least the teens and 20's, and maybe even earlier.

Unlike 99.9% of all porn sites, Retro Porn Archive does not have their photos grouped in galleries or sets. Each picture is completely stand-alone, and there are almost 20,000 images on the site. All of the materials, the photos and videos alike, are broken down first into hardcore or softcore, and then pictures and videos. The softcore picture section is by far the largest on the site with over 17,000 images. Since these are from all time periods, taken with all sorts of photograph equipment, and by different people, there is no standard for the sizes or quality. These are what you would expect for pictures that may be over 100 years old. It was extremely interesting to me to look through these images and see all the naughty and crazy stuff these people were doing way back then! Not only is porn not a recent development, but bondage, fetish, group sex, lesbian sex and role-playing aren't new either.
As with the photos, the approximately 280 videos on the site vary in quality and size and are offered sometimes in WMV and sometimes in DivX format. Many or even most don't have sound, but this was before technology for that existed in most cases. You obviously can't expect a crystal clear image, or even color in these videos, but they are very interesting to watch either way.
It was extremely interesting to me to look through these images and see all the naughty and crazy stuff these people were doing way back then!
The collection at Retro Porn Archive is more than respectably sized, but finding what you want can be a challenge since there is no way to search for or sort by a certain fetish or category. Another issue is that while the site appears to update every couple of days, the content count that I calculated matched EXACTLY with a reference to retropornarchive that I found on another site, which was over five months old. It seems too big a coincidence to be a mistake on either my part or the other site, so I firmly believe that content is being rotated and not actually growing. Despite this, I still think the site is worth a look for those interested in this type of material. The cost is around $29 for 30 days. |

It appears that my assumptions regarding retropornarchive.com were correct and the site is not actually updating since the site now offers slightly fewer videos and photos than it did back in May of 2007 when I first visited this vintage smut collection.
Currently, there are around 260 videos and 18900 individual photos available on the site and things are still just as disorganized as ever with no further search or sort options other than softcore, hardcore, pictures and videos. In the end, however, those interested in seeing materials this old have few options and the size of the collection alone probably makes it worth checking out. |
