When I think of large porn companies, the three names that automatically come to mind are Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse. These big players have all been around for quite a while and have made the transition from magazines and DVDs to the online world. Penthouse.com is Penthouse's online offering, and this large site has everything from magazine archives going back to the 70s to live webcam shows and web exclusives.

To be honest, the other big name magazine websites that I have seen haven't impressed me all that much. It just didn't seem like they offered anything that you couldn't get by raiding your dad's old magazine stash or renting a DVD. When I logged in to penthouse.com, however, I immediately knew that this one was going to be a little different. There was a flashing menu item for "live shows" and sure enough, this was a real live cam show included in the cost of membership, not an up-sell. Pornstars Aurora Snow and Nevaeh were getting quite naughty for a chat room filled with horny and very happy members. I chatted with everyone for a bit and moved on to see the rest of the site, but not before checking the live cam show schedule which indicates that there are four to five live shows per month. Now that's what I call a member perk!
Between the categories for Penthouse pets, solo models, girl-on-girl action, couples, and group sex, there are approximately 1600 photo sets averaging 25 images each on the site. They all have ZIP files and most even have multiple different sizes to choose from when downloading these sets. Of course the quality is great because this is Penthouse after all, but I wasn't expecting to see images going up to 4000 pixels on the long side. I believe these are the largest pictures I've seen yet!

The average length is about 60 minutes and there are two quality levels provided, the higher of which displays at 640x480 pixels and can be enlarged to full screen if you can deal with a bit of quality loss. Lack of high quality full screen videos is really the only major complaint I have with penthouse.com. One really great thing about the site is that the videos you download are yours to keep. They won't disable them with DRM the way many of the big magazine sites will.
There are all sorts of features to have fun with at Penthouse aside from just the videos and pictures. Penthouse's famous forum letters are here to read along with sex advice and XXX DVD reviews. With daily updates, downloadable DVDs that you can keep, weekly free live shows for members, and all these extras, this is one of the best values I've seen for porn on the net from one of the biggest names in the adult entertainment biz. Penthouse.com is a bargain at around $29 for 30 days. |

Wow! I was a big fan of penthouse.com the first time I visited the site, but they've gotten even better! The site has a totally new look and an all new member's area that makes getting around this site a cinch.
Instead of having to chase down all the galleries and videos in various sections across the site, they've condensed everything into fewer straight-forward sections and added search features to find exactly what you want. Penthouse.com currently offers over 2000 galleries in five categories plus 389 full length DVDs and 115 exclusive, web-only scenes.
That's over 2000 scene's worth of Penthouse video smut! Despite all the improvements here, I do think they took a step backwards by adding a so-called "free" membership to the line up. There's nothing free about it since you can't actually access any materials at all. Once you have your free password, you'll still need to choose a membership type, either gold or silver, and neither is free.
The cost of membership varies depending on how many months you stick around. Silver membership ranges from around $7 to $19 per month and includes smaller pics and other limitations while the gold membership ranges from around $9 to $24 and includes unlimited access to everything and the biggest image sizes. |
