I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say again. DVD download sites are changing the way that people look at porn websites. Just the sheer volume of material that most of the sites offer puts them miles ahead of the majority of their non-DVD related counterparts, but they offer quality and features as well as quantity, and movieroom.com is no exception.
If you are an instant gratification type of person, or just like to bounce from one scene to the next, you will love the Flash streaming here.
While most of the DVD download sites I have seen have been fairly similar, they all certainly have their differences as well. Many of these sites are constantly being updated with new features, and it can be hard to keep up with them, but as far as I know, movieroom.com offers two things that I don't remember seeing on other similar sites, Flash streaming, and full length downloads.
Flash is an alternative method of streaming movies. I'm not very technically knowledgeable about it, but I do know that it buffers extremely fast and makes it very easy to move around within a scene, something that a WMV file, for example, sometimes has trouble doing. If you are an instant gratification type of person, or just like to bounce from one scene to the next, you will love the Flash streaming here. The only downside is that they play at just around 380 pixels on the long side. You can enlarge them some, but not to full screen. Of course you can also download the videos, either by scene or by full length DVD, which is the other feature here that I really loved. Every time I've reviewed a DVD download site in the past, I've looked for this feature, and now I found it! The downloads are offered in WMV format in three quality levels going up to 2000 kbps, which is great for near DVD quality full screen viewing. iPod and PSP formats are also available on the site, but only for individual scenes and not for full-title downloads.
As with most other DVD download sites I've reviewed, this is a great site that just happens to be in a category with extremely stiff competition.
There are two major downsides to movieroom.com as compared to other similar sites, and that is the smaller collection and slower update schedule. While the over 615 DVD titles comprised of nearly 3000 scenes blows most sites out of the water, when compared to DVD download giants such as videobox.com, which offers over 2800 DVDs and almost 15,000 scenes, it's hard to stack up. Movieroom.com offers one new title per day, which is wonderful, but also less than some other sites that offer as many as five new titles per day.
Navigation is a little less extensive here than I am used to seeing as well. The most glaring omission is the lack of a simple search box. There's just no way that I could find to simply type in a word and search. You can, however, search by porn star name, studio, or series, and of course the titles are also arranged by category like gothic, BBW, MILF, big tits and blow jobs.
As with most other DVD download sites I've reviewed, this is a great site that just happens to be in a category with extremely stiff competition. Luckily the Flash streaming and full length downloads really give this one a boost and put them in the running with the big guys, even without the huge collection to match. They charge more than some of the sites with more content, so they'll really need to stay on top of things to keep the competition strong. Here's to hoping they catch up in the numbers department! Membership is around $29 for 30 days. |

Movieroom.com has grown to over 860 full DVD titles since our last check but it looks like they have overall remained the same in terms of features. They still offer the Flash streaming video and full length downloads they did before, but since my original review, both features have popped up on some of the other similar sites. The updates here have also slowed somewhat and new titles com anywhere from five to seven times per week instead of a guaranteed daily addition.
There is, however, one piece of very good news. For only about $1, you can now get inside and start downloading full length porn flicks for two days! If you like the site and decide to stick around, you can get your daily cost down to only around 66 cents per day by taking advantage of the discounted 90 day rate plan! You won't find this many full length titles for this price anywhere else so what are you waiting for? Get in there and start downloading! |
