Maniacpass.com, although it isn't exactly marketed in this way, is essentially a DVD download site. The main difference between Maniac Pass and most DVD download sites I encounter is the way the materials are presented. Instead of just having a searchable, sortable database, they also have over 600 mini-sites that contain various scenes from the DVDs. Personally, I found it much, much easier to browse in the normal way of DVD download sites and use the categories and search options rather than hunting through all of the poorly designed, small and very repetitive sites.
Maniacpass.com, although it isn't exactly marketed in this way, is essentially a DVD download site.
There are over 525 DVD titles available at maniacpass currently. Updates are coming, but they aren't always reliable sometimes coming daily and sometimes with a few days in between. It's still more than the average porn site in general, but far less than some other sites in the DVD download category.
Unlike most DVD download or movie sites, maniacpass has a pretty large selection in some of the more niche categories like tranny, fetish and mature...
To search by site, you can choose from a list of categories and then view all of the sites in that category which contain the videos for download. As I mentioned before, the content on these sites gets repeated a lot since there are more mini-sites than there are DVD titles. Searching by studio, star, keyword or series is a much easier way to find what you want and you'll get a better idea of how much is actually available rather than a mish-mash of repeated materials where you may never be sure how many videos are in a certain category. Unlike most DVD download or movie sites, maniacpass has a pretty large selection in some of the more niche categories like tranny, fetish and mature, although there are plenty of the expected more general hardcore, teen and blowjob videos as well.
Once you've found a title you like, you can download each scene separately in a full length WMV file. Three quality levels are available with the highest being 480x360 pixels with a bitrate of 2000 kbps, which should work fine for full screen viewing. I believe the only time quality is really a problem here is when the original recording was somewhat sub-par. Each scene comes with screen captures that can be downloaded in ZIP files, and there is also a separate section for regular photos which has around 500 sets which are not available in ZIP files for some reason. Personally, I'd much rather have the ZIP files for the regular photos than the screen captures.
So far, maniacpass.com looks like a decent DVD download site, although the collection is very small compared to many similar sites. Unfortunately, there is one problem here that really makes them fall behind the herd, and that is the download speed. Although not as slow as some of the other sites I reviewed in this network, the speeds that I got when downloading scenes here were consistently only around a third to half of what I generally get on this type of site.
I always feel a little bad when I don't recommend a site with so much more content than average, but the bottom line is that the DVD download category has some extremely "stiff" competition and you can get more titles, faster downloads and more than five times the updates for a lower price elsewhere. Membership to Maniac Pass is around $29 for 30 days. |

Maniacpass.com is still an AVS and DVD download site and essentially seems to work the same way now as it did months ago at the time of my review. The number of DVD titles has actually surpassed the number of mini-sites available now at over 1225 titles, but I still found the entire mini-site concept to be unhelpful and I had a much easier time just browsing the DVDs and pictures form the menu on the main member's area page.
The gallery section now has over 832 sets. At least one new DVD title is added each day and daily updates are always a nice perk, but I still just can't stop seeing this one as a DVD download site rather than an AVS site, and in the DVD category, it's not particularly impressive. Unfortunately, you can't browse the collection from the tour, so if you're interested in seeing which titles these guys offer, you're going to need to sign up for 30 days at a price of around $29. |
