If you've ever been inside an adult video store any time between now and the mid 80's, you've seen Ed's goofy smiling, glasses-wearing face staring back at you from a box covered in sexy naked women. His Dirty Debutants series has spawned thousands of wannabe copies, but none have had the staying power of old Ed just yet. He's directed and stared in hundreds of videos and been with hundreds if not thousands of women, and now you can access a large chunk of Ed Powers' materials all at one site, edpowers.com.
...it's at least worth a look to see some of these older, and probably hard to find videos.
Ed Powers offers over 215 videos for viewing. Unfortunately, only two of these were downloadable. All the others must be streamed directly from the site in WMV, MOV or RM format. There are two quality levels offered for each, they're marked as "hi" and "lo," but sadly, a better description might have been "bad" and "not quite so bad." The highest quality level offered on the site is the WMV file at 320x240 pixels and a bitrate of around 350 kbps. Not only is that not nearly enough for full screen viewing, but even at the small native size, the quality just isn't there. Some videos are so grainy, blurry and washed-out that it's almost like watching them through a plastic grocery bag. Not all of the videos are quite that bad, but it's certainly prevalent enough to warrant mentioning.

The picture gallery section just had a notice stating that the section was down for maintenance and would be back up soon, but I found other references on the net to the picture section having been down for a while, so it's hard to say when or if it will be back up. There is plenty of bonus content in the form of third party feeds, and many of them look considerably better than the content at edpowers itself. With a normally priced website, I don't think I would recommend joining edpowers.com, but with the deeply discounted special Porn Billy reader's rate of just around $9 for 30 days, it's at least worth a look to see some of these older, and probably hard to find videos. |

Here at edpowers.com, things are a bit of a mess. The member's area layout at this point is a nightmare to get around and even more challenging for me as a reviewer to find out just how much content is available here.
I thought I had it figured out when I found the "all videos" section, but then I realized that the 40 or so videos in the most recent updates section weren't included in the all videos section. There's also a third video section which seems to mostly include the same materials found in the other two sections, but there may be some other materials there which don't appear elsewhere.
On top of it all there is a downloadable video section where up to 30 videos at a time may be available to download in ZIP files while the balance of the flicks are streaming-only. I soon realized that it would be an all day project just to find out exactly how many scenes are here, but I estimate it at around 205 videos.
The site lists frequent updates in the recent videos section, but the amount of content here does not appear to have increased significantly, if at all, so how things really stand is anyone's guess. The flicks which are listed as new are looking better than before but still have issues with appearing washed out, grainy or poorly lit overall. The photo section works now but I don't think it actually contains any photos, just screen captures from the videos.
I might still recommend the site at the discount rate, but that option is no longer available. There are a couple of trial options which vary in price depending on how you pay, but the full monthly join is a whopping $34.95. In the end, it all comes down to how much you want to pay to see some sexy amateurs in what may truly be their first porn scene. |
