As soon as I logged in to clubseventeen.com, I knew I was in for a bumpy ride. This is one of those members areas that just seems crammed with more links, banners, blinking buttons and various other graphics that it's hard to know where to go. Many of these links just seem to be graphical representations of areas that can also be accessed via the menu system. I tried to ignore the dizzying mess and just focus on the menu, but even here things are so complicated that I'd almost think it was purposely meant to be annoying. The photo galleries are divided into nearly 40 different categories, some of which further break down into smaller categories. The menu system for all of these is awkward and the names of the categories aren't always helpful. For example, "redheads" is pretty self explanatory, but entries like "snapshots," "back from the bin" and "cover story" didn't make much sense to me. Other entries on the menu just left me more confused. Why have a separate archive section when the individual categories have archives, and what's with the "amateur" entry all on its own? All of these girls look amateur to me.
Finding the videos that actually belong to clubseventeen.com was the biggest challenge here. At one point, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with a page of over 50 video titles, but there were only a few photos from each and no video for some reason, despite the fact that I had accessed it via the "video" section on the menu. Almost all of the links I tried sent me either to something other than videos or to videos from a separate bonus site. I was finally able to track down around 23 clips actually offered on Club Seventeen itself. It's entirely possible that there are more, but if so, they're buried deep inside this massive maze of links.
While Club Seventeen is severely lacking in the usability department, at least the materials look good overall. The photos all appear to be professionally shot and are often quite large at over 1200 pixels on the long side. The sets average 25 images each with no ZIP file option. The videos vary as well with the highest quality found being in the 720x540 pixel range and suitable for full screen viewing, although not all of the videos go up to that level.
